Site Visit: Jackson Storm Sewer Drain Project Phase 2

The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the North American Society for Trenchless technology (RMNASTT) is excited to invite you to a project site tour on January 24, 2024, of the Jackson Storm Sewer Drain Project Phase 2 featuring Permeation Grouting in preparation for trenchless tunneling underneath Colorado Blvd.

This educational opportunity will offer a firsthand look at stabilizing the soil around the proposed twin 84" diameter RCPs within the alluvium material to minimize erosion during tunneling. The location of the project is underneath Colorado Blvd and south of 14th Street Crossing. The permeation grouting is being completed prior to tunneling operations with the treatment zone approximately 24 feet wide by 140 ft long and between 4.5 to 5.5 feet deep within the alluvium above the sandstone. Due to limitations to shut down Colorado Blvd., Nicholson is installing TAM (tub-a manchettes) pipes horizontally from the east side, using horizontal directional drilling from existing grade, and daylighted on the west side within a detention pond. In total 17 holes were drilled with a total of 5,942 lineal feet. It is anticipated that up to 36,000 gallons of acrylamide could be injected within the treatment area.
